Ultrasonic Inspection System for EF Joints of PE Pipes

Overview

This is an inspection system for PE (polyethylene) pipe joints.
In terms of gas pipeline materials, PE pipes are the most commonly used.EF (electrofusion) joints are mainly used to connect PE pipes. Nondestructive inspection can be conducted on EF joints.

  • The condition of fusion joints can be easily confirmed just by checking inspection result images.
  • Inspection result images are displayed immediately, making it possible to conduct on-site inspections quickly.
  • Inspection result images can be saved. Thus, on-site inspections can be conducted using a single system.

Configuration and working principle

Ultrasonic Inspection System for EF Joints of PE Pipes

The system consists of an ultrasonic unit and a scanning jig (probe).To conduct inspections, a probe attached to a scanning jig is placed on the outer surface of EF joints and moved in the axial direction (in the wire transverse direction for saddles).The results are displayed on the screen of the ultrasonic unit.
