“Neo Joints,” New Types of Flexible Pipe Joints

The joints are designed mainly for indoor flexible pipes. They are characterized by both high sealing performance and stable and easy construction.

Background

The construction method for stainless steel flexible pipes for gas distribution is widely accepted as the standard construction method for house pipes.When installing flexible pipes, joints are connected on both ends.Construction of conventional joints was completed just by inserting a flexible pipe for connection. This eliminated the need to tighten nuts using a tool, which was previously required, achieving easy construction.Construction of conventional flexible tube joints was easy, but it depended largely on the skills and judgment of the construction worker.We have developed and put into practical application a joint whose construction can be completed by inserting a flexible pipe and pushing in a nut. This has further improved construction quality and achieved stable sealing performance.

Features

Making the sealing performance more stable through the development of a sealing structure

  • The seal packing is arranged in the recessed part of the original flexible pipe. This reduces the influence of the condition of the original flexible pipe before insertion (such as dents and scratches) and demonstrates stable sealing performance.

Reducing human error by construction workers to improve construction quality

  • The nut cannot be pushed in unless a flexible pipe is inserted to a proper location. Construction workers can therefore notice errors during construction.
  • Coloring of the nut helps prevent failure to push in the nut.

Insertion workability improved by flexible pipes

  • Construction workers can feel the seal packing entering the recessed part when inserting an original flexible pipe.
  • It is not necessary to tighten the nuts. Flexible pipes can be connected without using a tool. It is easy to work at height or in a narrow space.
  • Flexible pipe joints can be rotated and screwed into piping components even after connection of flexible pipes.
