FAQ

Gas smell/gas stoppage

Gas has stopped. What should I do? (How do I reset the intelligent meter?) (How should I cope with the gas stoppage?)

If gas stops, follow the steps below to check.
Gas may be automatically shut off by the gas meter for safety reasons. Stop all gas appliances and check for gas smell.

1) Check if the red lamp of the gas meter (intelligent meter) is blinking.
If gas is stopped due to activation of the safety device of the gas meter, the lamp in the upper part of the meter blinks red. If the lamp is blinking, gas can be used again by resetting the gas meter. You can check the reset operation by watching a video or reading text.

2) Check if gas appliances other than the unusable appliance can be used.
If only a certain gas appliance is unusable, the appliance may be out of order. Check gas appliances other than the unusable appliance. Your local gas shop accepts orders for repair.

3) Gas distribution has stopped because payment for the bill could not be confirmed.
We post a “Notice of supply stop” if we stop the gas distribution due to failure to confirm payment of a bill. Pay the gas bill and contact us. The contact information is indicated on the notice.

4) Check the appliance shut-off valve, water supply valve, and power plug of the gas appliance.
In some cases, the appliance shut-off valve and water supply valve for the gas appliance may be closed, or the power plug may be removed.

If gas is still unavailable after following the above steps, call the Gas Pipeline Helpline (Mon.–Sat.: 9:00 to 19:00; Sun. and holidays: 9:00 to 17:00).
